The small, former fortified church is once again the setting for this year's concert cycle. Almost hidden between the baroque buildings of the historical centre, it impresses with its medieval walls with elements of almost all architectural styles, the frescoes from the 12th century, the paintings from the 19th century and the paintings from the 20th century. century and the simple but highly effective "acoustic system" clay pots walled into the buttresses; arches, which provide a unique sound experience. Also this year four concerts are planned in the summer months.
As last year, these concerts will be held on the first Thursday of the month. The ticket price this year is € 22. 00.
Leonhard Leeb and Bernhard Macheiner combine the special sounds of trumpet and organ with their music. The musicians are fascinated by the fact that music has so many facets and can trigger unbelievably strong feelings. Therefore it is important to them to put as many emotions as possible into their pieces. They want to give their listeners a moment of peace, reflection and contemplation in this hectic time. Works by composers such as Bach, Händel and Caccini as well as single compositions will be played.
The Haydn Quartet has been based in Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt, the capital of Burgenland, for over 20 years. In addition to its intensive study of the works of Joseph Haydn, the quartet illuminates in its concerts both the surroundings and the far-reaching effects of this probably most important string quartet composer of all time, thus continuing the Esterházy tradition of reinterpreting the works of Joseph Haydn and those of his contemporaries from the perspective of the present. In addition, the Haydn Quartet constantly provides impulses by performing little-known masterpieces. In recent years the musicians have also devoted themselves to contemporary music with works by Smutny and Peschanel.
The Bass Clarinet Trio Bass Ensemble is a relatively new project of the three musicians Elisabeth Krenn, Arnold Plankensteiner and Moritz Weiß. With the title "Deep Waves" they embark on an innovative search through sound and time. The musicians understand the bass clarinet as a mouthpiece which, like any other instrument, tries to approach the human voice as closely as possible - the evolutionary milestone of our cultural history. In a sense, "Deep Waves" is a self-imposed research assignment: to go into depth in a variety of ways and to search for the punctual in the expanse.
